I was confirmed diabetic 5 years ago, and this helped explain the thirst and need to urinate all the time. The first thing I did when I found out, was to buy a bike and get cycling every day. Since then I have made a concerted effort to be as active as possible. I still cycle nearly every day and compete in races on the weekend. I also wind surf when the summer breezes are in and this is fantastic, as it relaxes the mind as well as build fitness. I tried several types of tablets to control the BGL, but recently started a once a day long acting insulin. It is the best thing and should have done it sooner. I have LADA so will eventually be Type 1. Diabetes has been a guiding force for me. It has ensured I exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, drink little alcohol and am concious about my health and well being. It is good to know more about how my body works and what is best way to live with Diabetes. Everyone comments about how fit I look, and that is just great. Sometimes you think why did this happen, but it does not chnage it. Just think of Diabetes as a ride. It has ups and downs, but get out there and keep fit, in what ever way makes you happy.
