Urgent recall – OneTouch Verio IQ Blood Glucose Meter
2/04/2013
Johnson and Johnson Medical Pty Ltd is recalling OneTouch VerioIQ Blood Glucose Meters as the manufacturer has identified that these meters fail to provide a warning at extremely high blood glucose levels of 56.8mmol/L and above.
At extremely high blood glucose levels of 56.8mmol/L and above, the OneTouch VerioIQ meter will turn off instead of displaying the message “EXTREME HIGH GLUCOSE above33.3mmol/L” as intended; on restart it will enter set up mode.
If you have a OneTouch VerioIQ Blood Glucose Meter, please call the OneTouch Customer Care line to organise the return of your meter and for a replacement meter to be sent to you free of charge.
OneTouch Customer Care Line: 1800 543 372, Monday – Friday 8am-3pm AEST, Saturday 8am-5pm AEST.
A message service is available out of hours
The manufacturer advises that patients can continue to test with their OneTouch VerioIQ Meter while they wait for their replacement meter to arrive. HOWEVER IF YOUR ONETOUCH VERIOIQ METER UNEXPECTEDLY TURNS OFF AND ENTERS SET-UP MODE AFTER TURNING IT BACK ON , YOUR BLOOD GLUCOSE MAY BE EXTREMELY HIGH AND YOUR SHOULD CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR OR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL IMMEDIATELY.
