Hi, I was wondering what other people’s experience with conception has been.

We only have one child at the moment (a girl) and we were trying for 3 years before she came along.  When I say "trying" I should say that we weren’t using contraception and were conscious of expected ovulation days.

Our daughter is about to turn 4 in a few months and it seems we have been trying longer to conceive with number two.

Is this normal for T1 diabetes?  My treatment isn’t great but it’s not as bad as it use to be.  If there is any ketones floating around the blood stream, can this be acidic for a forming feotus which causes it to premeturely terminate before it can be detected.

It’s just that I find it hard to believe that it’s so hard to fall pregnant – once in about six years of trying.  I find it easier to believe that I have fallen pregnant before but because my treatment hasn’t been in the optimal levels previously, perhaps they have premeturely terminated.

What have other people experienced?  I would also appreciate any reasearch links or other scientific understanding in regards to this area.

    Thanks.
