Hi guys.I have been reading this forum for years and thought I would at last join. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in 2002 and 2006 then when my levels didnt return to normal post baby I was given a diagnosis of Type 2. In feb 2008 my then Dr decided to do further tests as I didnt seem to fit the type two profile and at last got a diagnosis of LADA or type 1. So you see I have run the full gauntlet of the diabetes spectrum!! Last week after a couple of years of 5 needles a day on novorapid and lantus I became a pumper and I love it. Even though I have to wear a pager sized apparatus attached to me 24/7 the freedom is great. I cant forget my insulin, leave it at home, work etc cant do the "cant be bothered to get up from couch and have an injection cause the chocolate just kicked in" then fall asleep as my glucose is too high. You know, the normal stuff we do from time to time. The pump is just so convenient. I am sure long term the benefits will be fantastic for my health.
one question I have is related to tempretures and insulin. I live in the Kimberley in WA so always keep my insulin in the fridge and inject cold. It does sting sometimes but you get used to it. Now I am on a pump and my insulin is carried close to my body it can get quite hot especially in the wet season and our extreme heat. Has anyone else experienced this and if so does the insulin work less efficiently in hotter tempretures and therefore are you changing the insulin and tubing more frequently? I change every 3 days so far but envision this would become more frequent as the season hots up. Any thoughts.
    cheers
