November 7, 2012 at 5:35 pm #5103Hi there and welcome
LADA or latent auto immune diabetes in adults is far more common than we used to think. We see quite a few people diagnosed with this and it is common in the 30′s and 40′s. Have a look here for more info

November 12, 2012 at 4:25 am #5208I often see people who do not fit the classic type 1 or 2 picture. I usually suggest the talk to their GP about the type of diabetes they have – it is not so common so it is often overlooked. Lori, you are lucky that your doctor has diagnosed this for you. Have you seen an endocrinologist about the medical treatment plan? I understand that their are 2 schools of thought with LADA. Some evidence suggests starting insulin immediately, other says not any need.
November 27, 2012 at 3:47 pm #5313Hi David , yes my endocrinologist has got me on insulin x4 daily shots novorapid and lantus.seems to be doing the trick.
February 27, 2013 at 4:33 pm #6279Hi my Dr has advised me to go on a pump , im interested in the accuchek combo kit ,is there any one out there on it and or recomend it?Interested in your view on this pump.
March 8, 2013 at 6:16 pm #6359Hi Lori,
Have you received any further advice about starting to use a pump?
I was hoping some of the other members of the forum may have posted some advice here for you about pumping.
If you would care for some individual email advice on the pros and cons of pumping, you might like to submit a request @ http://www.diabetescounselling.com.au/counselling-and-diabetes-education/
to ‘chat’ with a diabetes educator.
Regards,
David
March 12, 2013 at 9:25 am #6361Hi Lori
apologies I missed the post – they seem to get hidden at times!
I am a pumper for 12 years and love it in the main. I think all of the pumps we have available are great – they all have their own features. Have you had a play with any of them.
Helen
