Hi. My name is Sean Rollett and I have had Type 1 diabetes for almost 13 years now. I’m still as of now struggling to get my BGL’s under control. They are always seasawing from 1.2 mmol/L to 28 or 33.6 most days and I just don’t know what to do any more. I have tried to adjust my insulin levels to try and combat this but it still happens. I’m on Lantus at 24 units per day in the morning before breakfast. I started on 48 units of Lantus when they first put me on it and recently they’ve reduced it gradually down to now 24 units of Lantus. I’m on a sliding scale with my NovoRapid for when my BGL’s are above 15. What should I do?.

This sounds like you are having a big struggle with your diabetes. Might you like to have some individual education and/or counselling with our team? If so, open the link @ http://www.diabetescounselling.com.au/counselling-and-diabetes-education/ and submit the request after reading the disclaimer and privacy page http://www.diabetescounselling.com.au/counselling-and-diabetes-education/disclaimer-and-your-privacy/
I think that this difficult area, insulin adjustment for any individual, and may be best answered in a private consultation.
If you look around the other forums here, you will likely find others are having similar problems.
Diabetes is a struggle, and with the help of a good team it is possible for you to achieve even more than seem to have done at present.
Regards,
David
