“ Work mental health issues cost billions

The workplace in Australia and around the world is a constantly changing environment. Many regular practices that were considered routine and acceptable 10 or even five years ago are now consigned to history. One area that still needs to move with the times and catch up to the modern world of 2013 is the way mental health issues are handled within the work- ing environment.

Change is necessary. It needs to happen more rapidly than is currently the case and if done properly, the changes will benefit employees and employers. Mental illness in the workplace costs Australian businesses a staggering $6.5billion every year. Statistics show that one in four Australians will experience a depressive episode within their lifetime. This means mental health conditions, far from being isolated are, in fact, common.

The cost of undiagnosed and untreated mental illness can have a devastating effect on an individual and their family, as well as costing an employer a significant amount in lost productivity. Ignoring the problem and believing it doesn’t exist, or is too complex, is counterproductive. ”

“5 STEPS TO LIVE A DEEPER MORE PURPOSEFUL LIFE ! With Phil McKewin

In this presentation Phil McKewin will share about the importance of a man learning to embrace his
life’s experiences and personal adversity, in ways that allow these to inform him of his true potential.
A man’s personal power comes from his ability to meet his inner dragons, feel his fears and limitations,
and not give into them. Instead, if he learns to see these as allies that challenge him to stretch and
grow, he will find the courage he needs to confront parts of himself that he may not necessarily wish
to look at. The personal insights he gains from this quest will also offer him self knowledge and under-
standing of who he really is as a man. This knowledge will allow a man to learn how to become more
honest with himself, more honest about what he feels, values and loves, and empowers him to align
his life so that his inner and outer worlds express his personal truth. Then he is able to live with courage, depth, authentic- ity and integrity in his life. ”
