Hi
This is really stupid and immature but sometimes I feel like since my diagnosis that I have ants crawling under my skin? Mentally I think of my blood and the amount of glucose in it running through my veins and that there is no cure.
November 25, 2012 at 8:08 pm #5307Hi BitterSweet,
This could be a symptom of nerve damage – peripheral neuropathy. Have you spoken to your doctor or podiatrist about this?
Your podiatrist may have access to some very specialised tools that your doctor doesn’t. Its probably worth your while seeing both.

November 30, 2012 at 10:24 am #5331Thanks, but I think it’s more to do with how I personally perceived diabetes as a disease than actually having the sensation of ants crawling under my skin. It’s probably just my anxiety
November 30, 2012 at 10:29 am #5332Sometimes, I think if I lose enough weight or live a healthier lifestyle that I’ll be normal and relatively healthy again. Until the day I die, I will never be normal again. Mentally, I’m still trying not to freak out about being t2 but I think it’s to do with the uncertainty of it all. I could eat healthy and exercise and still die from it. I don’t want to regret not eating something and still end up on dialysis.
November 30, 2012 at 2:44 pm #5336hi BitterSweet, i share your anxiety..and whilst i don’t have ants under my skin, i have neuropathy, which feels like electric numbness.
Yes, i perceive diabetes as a disease..i get to thinking it’s like i have AIDS ..or something,
and i have to explain to normal people, that i am diseased..And yes, i share the food anxiety,
a fear of what to eat, what not to eat, why is there so much.. poisonous manufactured sugar laden deathtraps!..etc.
it’s a disease that effects the body and mind…
but one must be rational, and do one’s best to eat healthy and to exercise regularly and be positive of mind.
It all makes a difference to our benefit.
