There are a number of ways you can get involved in helping us at Diabetes Counselling Online thereby supporting people with diabetes. If you have diabetes you will also find it very rewarding as many people discover things about themselves and their own diabetes through volunteering. You do not have to have diabetes to get involved however!
Board members
We are always looking for people who might join us as a member of our board of management. If you are interested, drop us a line with your resume and interest in being involved to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will be in touch to discuss the role and whether this is a suitable role for you. In 2010 we will be seeking 1 - 2 more members to our Board.
Fundraising Committee - volunteers
We are seeking people to volunteer in helping us with fundraising across the country and getting involved in planning and arranging events. We will be holding a series of lotteries and other Channel 9 Telethon events in 2010; as well as some in house events. You can help us by representing us in your state and helping out around the website, as well as spreading the word amongst family and friends when we are holding fundraising events and passing on some lottery tickets!
Please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to get involved.
Workplace giving
Many organisations run Workplace Giving Programs encouraging staff to donate a percentage of their salary to a chosen charity. Often, organisations then match these donations dollar for dollar. If your organisation has this program in place, and you would like Diabetes Counselling Online Inc added to enable staff to donate to support for people with diabetes, please contact your HR department/Payroll office. We would be happy to provide you with information on our organisation, and/or relevant banking details to process the donations. You can also access this via CAF Charities Aid Foundation, who arrange all the necessary details - we are registered with them here: http://www.cafaustralia.org.au/
Peer support
We are always looking for people to help us with moderating forums and chat sesssions - drop us a line to find out more. It is a good way to learn more about yourself and to hook up with other people with diabetes.
Specialised skills
We are happy to chat with you about any skills you may be able to offer such as IT, newsletter management etc - just let us know what you can help with!
