Its been 4 weeks (wow) since I started pumping.
They have decreased/increased and now descrease my basal levels again.

My first week I was on Annual Leave so probably didn't really show a true picture of my usual practices..
This week my educator reduced my basal levels again. The next day woke up with a 15.0 and it stayed above 10 most of the day. Not happy!!!!
And then yesterday come late arvo and I got my first really bad high since starting on my pump... 20.6 - ouch!!! :wtf:

I want to see all my BSL under 10... at least til I can get used to my new pump and my carb counting. Then ideally I would like it even lower.

I'm suppose to ring my educator tonight with my BSL reading again... Hopefully she makes some changes if I have more highs today.. I was doing so well first visit after pump when she downloaded my meter readings...

Nat :problem:
I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let's face it, friends make life a lot more fun.

Hi Nat! Wow congrats on the pump!!

it can take weeks or longer to get things settled so take time to get to know it all. I think I still dont always get the rates right and I have been pumping for years!

If you get readings that are really high and seem out of the expected it is always worth checking the site - did you do that with the 20 mmol? I find sometimes it is the site that needs changing or sometimes even an air bubble, so a real high is worth checking site and/or changing.

Good luck and keep us informed

Well saw Endo and Educator yesterday, a totally stressful day, but on upside my basal rates reduced yet again.. Loving this less insulin thing.

Still need to tweek a few things to stop the highs after lunch and the really lows before lunch...

Having sensor done on 6th september so they can see a better pictures of what is happening... so two pumps two needles.. Nat won't be able to move... Ouchy!!!

Overall I'm liking what I'm seeing and for the first time I want to have my next A1c check done so I can see the changes... Fingers crossed.. Educator reckons it will have dropped.. 8.4 before pump, October blood check, December off to see Endo for results...

Yes Helen it is s taking a while to know what they right steps are. I argue with myself... temp rate or combo when I know things like chinese will push BSL up.. I've had one issue with site since starting, but it wasn't due to not working, it was due to hurting/sensitive positioning. I'll keep it in mind though and yes Endo said something yesterday about how it can get a small kink which doesn't register as a blockage with the pump.

So far Happy with my decision. That will be a first.

Yep, the reduction in daily insulin is a real bonus, I decreased my TDD by about 20% when my pump profile had been completed.

As Helen suggested, a bad site or kink or large air bubble could cause a High, also next time check your bolus history, just in case you missed a meal bolus. Has happened to me a couple of times, so easy with the pump.

Enjoy you new pancreas, I do.
