We were proud to be accepted as a Channel Telethon charity in 2009, particularly in their 50th year. We are very pleased to say that we are again working with Channel 9 Telethon and a range of South Australian Charities in 2010, supported by an amazing array of South Australian businesses and individuals.
Along with a range of other charities, we are participating in a number of events which you can support and have a chance at some great prizes at the same time.

The 2010 Channel 9 Telethon Distinctive Home and Land Lottery is ON!
With around 275 people each day diagnosed with diabetes and people with diabetes suffering twice the rates of depression, eating disorders and anxiety, Diabetes Counselling Online’s services are vital. The pressures of managing an often unmanageable disease lead to devastating outcomes including blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, stroke, leg amputation, nerve damage and early death. Just imagine hearing these things when diagnosed with diabetes, particularly for young children and their families……
Diabetes Counselling Online www.diabetescounselling.com.au is the only charity supporting all people with diabetes around their mental health and wellbeing. We receive no government funding and in 2009 received more than 2.5 million hits and 80,000 visits to our website.

The stunning home, The Brunswick 4 (189), has been built in a traditional bungalow style with a separate pitched wide return verandah that addresses both road frontages and complements other homes in the area. The Brunswick is a 4 bedroom, two bathroom dwelling with separate office and a large family area specially designed by Distinctive Homes to suit the solar orientation of the lot. The home has a tiled roof, painted rendered banding with feature Boral Awning Windows and twin panel lift Steel Line doors with feature Stockton windows. Austral Vintage Grey Bricks were used in the construction and Corinthian PSC4G – Desert Sand front doors adorn both the main entrance and that of the patio doors to the Office. The homes will be air conditioned thanks to West End Breeze. The home also is energy efficient in that it has a Rinnai Sunmaster solar hot water service and has re-cycled water supplied to the toilets & garden taps. Le Cornu Furniture has generously donating all the furniture in the lottery home. Electrolux stainless steel appliances will add to the generously donated kitchen by Supreme Kitchens which has granite bench tops and soft closing cupboard doors. Supreme Kitchens have also supplied the Caesar stone topped vanity cupboards. A feature of the kitchen would have to be the massive hidden walk-in larder. All bedrooms have robes with the three rear bedrooms displaying the latest in glass sliding wardrobe doors from Regency Showers & Bathrooms.

We are very pleased to say that we can now offer the 2010 cards with the same fantastic deal! This is for people in South Australia as Wallis are a family owned cinema chain in South Australia only. Of course if you travel here from time to time and want to use the card to go to the movies it is still a fantasitc deal!

Channel 9 Telethon Sponsors and Awards Lunch
Helen Edwards attended the Channel 9 Telethon Sponsors Lunch and receieved the fundraising cheque from all lotteries and projects during 2009. This was gratefully received.
Helen also gave a speech to the crowd about the importance of mental health and support for people with diabetes and what it is like for people living with this disease.
